EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree from a college or
university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher
Education Accreditation (CHEA) is required.
Must hold a State Board For Educator Certification (SBEC)
Mid-Management, Administrator, Principal, Supervisor or Counselor certificate
and five years of full-time, wage-earning experience in education, criminal
justice, business administration, social work, community services, or related
field is required. (OR) Bachelor’s
degree, or higher, in education, psychology, social work, criminal justice,
business administration or related field and five years of full-time,
wage-earning experience in criminal justice, working specifically with
reintegration programs and/or with community or volunteer services. Basic knowledge of criminal justice systems
preferred. Work experience in the area
of case management, reintegration planning, job placement for at-risk youth,
and working with offenders and their families is preferred.
PARTIAL SUMMARY OF THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates
services to youthful offenders to promote successful transition to secondary
school completion, further education or employment. Promotes the use of effective instructional
materials to promote the transition process.
Assists with the provision of career and employment resources to
teachers. Serves on committees related
to tech-prep, school-to work, and/or offender employment. Implements the policies established by
federal and state law, State Board of Education (SBOE) rules and board policy
in the area of transition services under Title I. Recruits employers and business to provide
employment opportunities for students.
Plans and implements promotional and public relations activities to
publicize WSD programs. Assists with the
coordination of advisory committees and public meetings as required by grant
regulations.
