MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  High school diploma from an accredited high school or hold a GED.  A minimum of three years full-time, wage earning experience in general clerical/secretarial duties.  Must type 45 words per minute with no more than 10 errors  on the appropriate FIVE minute timed typing test administered by the Texas Workforce Commission or TDCJ typing test as outlined below.  

 TYPING SKILLS:  Must type 45 words per minute with no more than 10 errors.  Verifiable FIVE minute typing score must be submitted with the application packet  by the application deadline.  All applicants must have a typing test administered by the Texas Workforce Commission or the Institutional Division by a TDCJ Unit or Department Personnel Representative.  A minimum of 55 net words per minute is preferred.

PROOF OF ACCEPTABLE TYPING SCORE MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE APPLICATION WHEN IT IS RECEIVED PRIOR TO CLOSING DATE

PARTIAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Serves as secretary to the Principal.  Composes correspondence for the Principal as assigned.  Develops and maintains an efficient system for flow of student records.  Maintains appointment calendar, prepares travel vouchers, organizes and maintains unit filing systems.  Analyzes incoming mail and routes to proper personnel.  Maintains the computer system and all computer files.  Coordinates paperwork, testing schedules, class schedules, and monthly reports.  Prepares and maintains time sheets for contracted personnel.  Maintains sick leave records/files for WSD employees on the unit.  Consolidates and types annual budget, reports, campus plans and miscellaneous documents.  Trains other clerical staff as assigned.  Updates all policy manuals.  Maintains daily WSD attendance accounting and monthly ADA reports.  Performs general management of the clerical functions in the principal’s office.   Performs duties in a professional manner through daily, punctual attendance at the location of work assignment.  Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the SBEC code of ethics and standard practices for Texas Educators.
